In the SF role, mounted on a tripod and fitted with the C2 optical sight, it is fired by a two-man team who are grouped in a specialist Machine Gun Platoon to provide battalion-level fire support.

A Machine Gun is a fully-automatic mounted or portable firearm, usually designed to fire ammunition cartridges in quick succession from an ammunition belt or large-capacity magazine, typically at a rate of several hundred rounds per minute. A machine gunner's job is to provide covering fire for other troops to move up. This is better for belt-fed machine guns like the RPD and M60E4 from Call.
